Let’s start from now…

…On the last page of my book, I write the words of Margaret Mead: "Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

And what happened before that?

And now let's fast forward a few decades. My first dream was to be a dancer. And I did. For the first decade of my adult life I made my living as a contemporary dancer and teacher.

But I had an intuition and I had to leave the world of arts to pursue something new. I moved to England to do my second Master's. One day in 2006 I saw the acronym CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) on my colleague's screen and realised - for the first time in my life - that companies can be a force for good. This was a ground-breaking thought for me! I had found my new passion.

Since then, I have been working in the field of sustainability and circular economy, still equally passionate about it as day 1.

As a Co-Founder of Ethica, a consultancy specialising in the circular economy, I have 12 years of experience as a circular economy expert. I’ve been working with businesses, ministries, industry associations, municipalities and universities. I have developed and run Circular Design Sprints since 2016 in various countries with closer to 150 companies. After having designed and led the 1-year Finnish Circular Design Programme for 50 companies in 2022-2023, we created the Nordic Circular Design Programme for 30+ Nordic companies. I have not abandoned the performing and teaching worlds either, having delivered public speaking and visiting lecture engagements at numerous international business forums and universities from Bejing to New Delhi, Amsterdam and Berlin.

Why did I write the book?

Writing a book was a long-term dream. After developing and iterating the Circular Design Framework for years with our clients, it was time to write all the experience and learnings into a book. Not only my experience, but through interviewing the best companies and experts, the book is full of cases and transformation stories to provide you with a broad spectrum of insights, inspiration and tools.
